| DESCRIPTION: Length up to 5mm. The 22 Spot Ladybird is a small  beetle that has a yellow elytra covered with 20 - 22 black spots, a pronotum that is yellow (in rare cases white) that has 5 spots and brown legs. The spots can become fused but this is quite rare.  DISTRIBUTION: Widely distributed throughout England becoming more local in Wales and almost absent in Scotland. HABITAT: In low vegetation where it is found on the leaves of many plants feeding on the mildew covering the leaves. Hogweed is a particular favourite as well as Burdock.  PERIOD: April to September.  |
